What inspired to take the “Discover Remarkable Work” Program?

I was lost! I had been let go from my corporate job. I knew I did not want to just go out and get another office job, but I didn't believe in myself or in the universe to support me in a non-traditional career. A good friend of mine knew that one of her other friends was a unique career coach, so she got the two of us talking. The first time I spoke with Laurel, I realized that I could not envision a program more suited to what I needed -- taking the passion I felt, finding ways to tap into it to see what hidden treasures in the form of soul work would reveal themselves, and then making them a reality.

What is your plan for the future?

I have created a healing arts practice combining energy work and meditation. My primary focus is helping others with relieving stress and increasing the body's innate ability to heal itself.

In the near future, I would like to make my work as accessible and affordable as possible. So I am currently exploring ways to provide inexpensive workshops that will incorporate the same principles as in my one-on-one work. This way, I can provide both group work and private sessions.

I have learned that when you do what you love, your work is always evolving... deepening. Soul work is not static. So, simply put, my future involves just what I see today, tomorrow will come to me then.

How did the program help you most?

Through the program I learned:

  1. to take the skills I've already developed,
  2. keep to what I know best (that may sound easy, but when you feel that all your knowledge lies in fields you are no longer interested in, it's hard to see the wisdom you've gained),
  3. to create a path all-my-own based on my passions and life experiences,
  4. and, finally, to know that I have all I need to start my soul work right now!

What is the best advice you can give to someone trying to find their calling or discover their dream job?

First of all, believe in yourself! This can be hard if you don't have the support of your family and friends. There are some great books out there, like Tama J. Kieves' This Time I Dance! Creating the Work You Love, and excellent workshops, like the ones from Rick Jarow. But if you've done the books and classes and find that you are still stuck, don't blame yourself. It's not because you're a hopeless cause! It's because there really is no substitute for one-on-one support and encouragement in this process. Most people are not taught to explore their own passions, create a unique path, and expect to get paid for it. You don't need to feel like you are reinventing the wheel trying to figure out how to make ends meet and do meaningful work, there are people out there who can help you on your journey. From personal experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Laurel Donnellan. But no matter who you choose to work with, make sure it is someone who feels right for you.
